Welcome to Kugi. These terms explain the rules for using Kugi and what you can expect from us. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply when you use kugi.study, Kugi World and everything else Kugi offers (“Kugi”). By creating an account or using Kugi, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Kugi.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Kugi. If you are under 18, you need the permission of a parent or guardian, who also agrees to these terms for you.
- Give accurate information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account; tell us right away if you think someone else is using it.
- One person per account. Do not sell, share or transfer your account.
3. Community rules
Kugi is a place to learn together. When you use it, do not:
- harass, bully, threaten or impersonate anyone, or post hateful, sexual or violent content;
- post spam, scams or anything illegal, or share other people’s personal information without permission;
- upload content you do not have the right to share, including copyrighted reviewers, books or leaked exam questions;
- cheat on quizzes, exams, quests or leaderboards, or use bots or scripts to earn XP, coins or items;
- break into, overload, scrape or disrupt Kugi, other accounts or Kugi World, or get around limits we put in place.
Community owners may set extra rules for their communities. We may remove content and limit, suspend or close accounts that break these rules.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post and upload. You give Kugi permission to store, copy, display and share that content within Kugi as needed to run the service, for example to show your post to your community, to read the text in your files (including scans and photos) so you can search them, or to make a quiz from your notes and files. This permission ends when you delete the content for good (files you delete stay in your Bin for 30 days unless you empty it) or your account, except for copies other people have already saved or shared within Kugi, and backups kept for a limited time.
Your Study Library has limits: 2 GB of files per account, counting the Bin; up to 100 MB for each PDF or PowerPoint file, 50 MB for each Word or Excel file, 25 MB for each image or photo and 10 MB for each text file; and up to 300 uploads an hour. Kugi does not accept some kinds of files, such as web pages, programs, archives and Office files with macros.
You are responsible for your content. If you believe something on Kugi infringes your rights, email hello@kugi.shapeshadows.tech with the link and the details, and we will look into it.
5. Communities and courses
Communities, courses and study materials are made by Kugi users. Their owners are responsible for what they publish and for any promises they make to their members. Kugi does not check every community or course, and is not a party to arrangements between owners and members.
6. Coins, Crests, items and purchases
- Coins, Crests, owls, frames and other items in Kugi are virtual. They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, and cannot be transferred or sold outside Kugi.
- We may change prices, items, Crest bundles and how coins are earned. We may remove coins, Crests or items gained through cheating, bugs or abuse.
- Crest bundles and other paid purchases are processed by PayMongo. The price, including any discount, is shown before you pay, and a discount applies only during its stated time. Crests are added to your account once PayMongo confirms the payment; they do not expire.
- Purchases are final once the Crests or item are delivered to your account, except where Philippine law gives you a right to a refund. If you were charged and did not receive what you bought, or something else goes wrong with a purchase, email us with the time of the purchase and we will look into it.
7. Kugi AI and study tools
Kugi AI, mock exams, quizzes and flashcards are study aids. AI answers and generated questions can be wrong or incomplete, so check important information against your official materials. Mock exams are practice and are not official licensure or board exams. Text that Kugi reads from scans and photos can have mistakes too. Kugi does not guarantee that you will pass any exam.
8. Kugi World
In Kugi World, other players can see your owl, where it is and what you say. The community rules apply there too. We may move, mute or remove players who disrupt others.
9. Changes to Kugi
Kugi is still growing. We may add, change or remove features, and Kugi may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We will try to give notice before removing something important.
10. Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other users or Kugi at risk. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why. The sections on your content, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law keep applying after an account is closed.
11. Disclaimers
Kugi is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promises that Kugi will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that content made by users or by Kugi AI is accurate or fit for a particular purpose.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, Kugi is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data or lost opportunities, or for content or conduct of other users. Our total liability for any claim about Kugi is limited to the amount you paid Kugi in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Philippine law that cannot be waived, including as a consumer.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. Before going to court, please email us so we can try to resolve the problem together.
14. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will let you know in Kugi or by email before it takes effect. If you keep using Kugi after that, you accept the new terms.
